Wow, Mind War, didn't remember much of this before I saw it tonight. This has been great seeing this string of episodes a 2nd time. Learned some things tonight, that I hadn't quite connected or remembered. I actually thought that the arc didn't start exposing itself this much until Sky full of Stars.

So Ery, what'd ya think of Walter Koenig as Bester, betcha didn't think he had it in him. Such a creepy departure from Chekov.

And Ironheart, I never knew he was Moesha's father. When I watched the few episodes of Moesha, I knew there was some reason he seemed familiar, now I know why.

Oh and Ery, now you know what a Psi-Kitten is, the female Psi-cop named Kelsey I believe is where Rantarn coined the phrase. Sorry if I got the coiner or the specific character wrong, but I think I got it right.

Another part of the political intrigue that is Babylon 5 has begun to unfold for ya Ery.

OK, if B5 doesn't orbit Epsilon 3, then how close is it? It certainly appears close enough that it should be in the gravity well of the planet. If that's the case, the only way to keep it from crashing into the planet is for it to orbit. Just some random thoughts on that subject. Damn, learn a little physics and it screws up your whole life.

Ery, I'm enjoying your take on these episodes immensely. I didn't really get to see them this way, because I started watching in S2. So when the repeats aired on TNT, I already had a lot of what happened later. So my watching was with that perspective in mind. A lot of, "So that's where that came from," or "Yeah, you better listen to that!" was coming from me.

This is great SF television. Not quite like reading a Stephen Donaldson novel, though. Start reading the Gap yet?

Merle, B5 has thrusters but they are not used unless there is an emergency, like B5's rotation is lost.

Boy howdy, Mind War. Yes, I hadn't imagined Walter K. could be so slimy. And yes, his psi-kitten was downright snarly at times. Fascinating that the psi-corps appear to be in somewhat of an arms race to build human weapons.

Yes, Crash. That's why they are called attitudinal thrusters. The point is, the station has to be in orbit, or it will crash into the planet. That's physics.

Not if the station is far enough away from the gravitational well of the planet. In To Dream in the City of Sorrows (book) there is a scene were a ship enters the orbit of the planet inorder to drop off some cargo without being seen. There is a specific time that this has to happen because when it comes around the planet it will be in sight of Babylon 5. If B5 was in orbit around the planet then a ship should be able to establish an orbit that allows it to never be in a position were B5 can see what it is doing. Which indicates, to me at least, that B5 is not in orbit of the planet by is stationed far enough away from the planet that it can see it but is outside the gravitational well.

Remember, in the pilot those thrusters were inside the ship and had to be released to work and then nearly tore the station apart. They are not on at all times or readily avialable at all times.

And to be honest with you, its not all that important. (She says after writng her 3rd post on the subject)

Ery have you noticed that the stars in the observation dome move in different directions. The ones on the left hand side of the screen move up while the ones on the right hand side of the screen are rotating down (grins) I always loved that one. Physics be damned, the rotatin pat of the ship is rotating in two directions causing the stars to appear to be moving in different directions. Go figure

Thats how it looks when the control center is in the middle of the ship. Makes me dizzy thinking about it.

LOL, Crash! That's the difference between physics in books and RL physics. Anyway, maybe someone should start a remedial physics topic.

But really, the ep last night had so many intriguing points to ponder. Foremost of course is PsiCorps, and the way in which Talia is slowly being exposed to information that is rocking her world. First there was Susan telling her about how her mother had to take the injections. OK, Talia can deal with that, she's been indoctrinated, but meeting someone in RL who's been affected by the Corps in that way is unsettling. Now, Jason's revelations! Wow! That's a lot of information for Talia to assimilate in one session. What is the Corps up to? Are they really trying to manipulate things behind the scenes? To what end? This is not what Talia was brought up to believe about the Corps.

And then there's Jason himself. Will we ever see him again? What has he become? Was he serious about the million years thing? Is he saying he is what humans will evolve into in a million years? Or just that it will take them a million years to advance to a point to follow where he's going?

What is the extent of Jason's gift to Talia? When will it become important, if ever, that she has this gift? And that looked a lot like a penny she was moving. Where'd she get a penny? (OK, silly side quetion, but it ran through my mind!)

Then of course there's Catherine. Will she learn to listen when people tell her certain places aren't good to visit? Did G'kar really have a motive for saving her? Lovely line about no one being who they seem to be, btw.

And the alien being itself. Something so vast and ancient that it takes no more notice of us than we do of ants. Are there other races like this? Where are they? What are they up to? What is important to such advanced beings?

Really, a great ep. And you had to enjoy watching the psi-kitten get vaporized for her trouble.

HEHE, Merle. RE: Catherine learning to follow advice. I think that's pretty much a human trait in B5, no humans seem to listen when they are told it's not safe to go somewhere. Look at the list.
